GET TEACHERS AND PRINCIPAL
TO BUY INTO THE SCIENCE CARNIVAL IDEA.
Present the benefits of having a Science Carnival:
- Get your whole school involved.
- Establish partnerships with the community.
- Provide career awareness for students,
- and promote science and math as fun and challenging
FORM A SCIENCE CARNIVAL COMMITEE
Here are some of the tasks:
- Science Carnival
Coordinator
- Callers - Make phone calls to local businesses and
agencies requesting presenters.
- Data and Communications - Sends letters announcing the carnival and
asking for volunteers. Receives incoming reponses and makes a
list or database of volunteers and presenters. Makes name tags
for presenters and volunteers
- Activity Planners - post activity sign up sheet in staff lounge,
provide activity ideas.
- Physical set up - map, equipment , assits needs of presenters,
signs, refreshments, event documentation, and clean-up
- Crowd Control
- roams the campus on the carnival day enforcing the rules and
assiting the flow of students
- Kick Off Assembly
coordinator - plans for a kick
off assembly
TEACHER COMMITTMENTS
Each Teacher:
- Becomes responsible for planning and presenting
an activity
- Sends and receives communications to and
from parents through students.
- Elicits parent volunteers for their classroom
for the day of the carnival.
SET A DATE
- At least a 3 month lead time is good.
